Liberty Enlightening the World

The Statue of Liberty, originally called ”The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World”, was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. Since its dedication in 1886, couples from all over the world have traveled to Manhattan’s Ellis Island top the big question. What could be more romantic than being alone amongst but a select few on for all intents and purposes a private island, directly adjacent to arguably the center of the Western world?
